Thanks for the video. It’s nice and useful to see if I need a new router or if this will do.

(Just for lolz look at this: speedtest(dot)net/result/801536808.png – I pay for 8mbit, and that’s freaking lying if you cant tell! :P )

Yes I know that you muppet!

It is a TG585v7 and one of many with a known security problem, but still supplied by ISPs. o2 are leaving their customers wide open to identity fraud and theft by giving this router to people. It also has two other accounts with known passwords – o2Care and SuperUser. Both allow access to the home network.

  7. urbex2007 says:

Be is o2 you muppet! same network, different name and higher price.

  8. urbex2007 says:

i would NOT be using that Thomson router – it is vulnerable to CSS attacks. o2 wouldn’t admit it nd tried fixing it by setting passwords to serial numbers. The router is still wide open as o2 and everyone else has access via the o2Care and SuperUser accounts once they have your IP and know which sites to get the passwords from. Some ports are easy to open and the security holes should be closed, but o2 blames Thomson and they ignore it all. Use the o2 router and you are wide open to attack…

I’m with o2 aswell at the start the speeds were fine but gradually they have declined over the months. o2 are now throttling users which is a real bad thing in my eyes. I have just asked for my mac code and am going with be since they don’t throttle users.

  13. TheXbox360modding says:

no it must be your area , because i do online gaming with the pro package and its ace for me you must be a shitty area connection

We are on O2 and are quite pleased, But at first our O2 wirless box used restart like crazy due to overheating. A simple fix is to mount a small 40mm 12v fan on the top of the case to draw out hot air, and suck in cool air from the vent holes underneath. Works great! never restarts at all now…well the conection drops out from time to time but this is normal.

  16. Joshskelton1993 says:

You know its never really problems with the box, it just depends on your signal strength in the area, e.g. I live in carlisle and we really get speeds above 3mb !

  17. TheLaughingGamer says:

Yeah exactly, we cant change either because were on contract .

  18. Alpeche21 says:

I have O2 for almost an year now… it totally sucks… I’m always crashing on online games, always laggy, somedays I can’t play at all… Really sucks, but my parents say they think it’s a good deal so I guess I’m stuck with it… and the worst part is that we get Static IP… can’t change it and unban myself :(

  19. TheLaughingGamer says:

O2 are a load of crap for online gaming(console) i got the pro package, same box as you. But when im gaming online ive always got a laggy connection. any help?

  24. RianTrace84 says:

It looks very similar to the Thomson TG585. If it is made by Thomson, I bet its more reliable than my Orange Crapbox. Thanks to Orange, i`m currently connected at a slow & stable 1.5meg connection with my old & trouble free Speedtouch 330.
